My name is Margaret and I am 22 years old. I grew up in a big family with 3 older siblings and 3 younger siblings. I am smack-dab in the middle. 🙂
When I was about 18 I started to really get into baking. I made my first 3-tiered wedding cake with fondant when I was 19. About a month later, I really dove into my fondant experience when I decided to enter an online cake decorating competition. Click here to see my entry.
Although I did not win that competition, I was nominated. Jen Yates of www.cakewrecks.com was a judge that year and featured my cake in the “Sunday Sweets” section of her blog. You know, the blog posts that feature cakes that aren’t actually wrecks. 😉 To see that blog post click here
The experience of making that cake opened my eyes to what I was capable of in the field of cake decorating.
It was around that time, that my (Amazingly talented and creative) sister, Missy, started a little business called Sugared Up Toppers. At that time, I lived far away from her, but whenever I was in town, we would spend hours making and designing cupcake toppers together. She always said, “Margaret, you are the only person I would ever trust to take over this business.”
And now that we live in the same town… err…. same house (YAY!), she has handed the business over to me, and I promise to always maintain her high standards.
